Science is used almost all the time. There are so much science used in the real world i can't even count it!!! Whether at home, at school, or outside, science is seen and used. Science is a big part of daily life and without the understanding, the world would be a lot different. We would not know how to describe things like force, motion, friction, molecules, atoms, and a lot of other stuff. SCIENCE IS IMPORTANT IN DAILY LIFE!!!

Today i am using science because chemical energy in my body is transforming to mechanical energy to make my muscles work. I learned this last week and am finding how much energy transformation is involved in the real world. Also, i found out that some dams use the water pressure to create energy that may power some electricity in different places.

Today, i am going to exert heat energy because i have a basketball game. Also, my mind is sending different body functions to the rest of my body to allow me to run different plays in basketball. When i play basketball the ball has the most amount of potential energy when i am about to release it from my fingers. When i release it, and it goes as fast as it can, it has the most potential energy. The ball moves according to how much force the team puts into passing the ball.

Today is Saturday. I am really bored and am deciding to do this wiki. As i am typing on this computer i am using science. There are many different scientific parts to typing. Earlier i was watching tv. I was using science because my brain had to understand images, colors, and movement that my eyes saw. Lastly i just got done playing the guitar. I made sure i had the right notes and heard the correct or incorrect notes. My guitar creates sound energy after my hands pluck or strum the strings of the instrument.

This morning science was involved in my life. I had gym and there were many different parts of science at work. Some examples are......
Friction: between my shoes and the floor when i was running.
Motion: I was moving all gym period.
Potential energy:I had potential energy when the ball was in the air before I served the volleyball
Kinetic energy: the ball was going as fast as it could right before someone hit it after I served.
Chemical energy: my brain was telling my body different funtions that .
Mechanical energy: my muscles were working enabling my body to move around
Heat energy: my movement created heat, further, causing me to sweat
Sound energy: when people hit the volleyball the force of the ball and the contact with my arms created sound
There are many scientifical parts to volleyball but these are the few that i am naming.

Today my contact is annoying and aggravating my eye. I use contacts to enhance my vision. Contacts do this because my eye shape is ugly and not perfect :P. My conctacts bend the light helping me see better. Without my contacts my vision would be blurry when I try to look at things far away. I am farsighted meaning images get blurry the farther they are without my contacts. Again, my contacts help me see farther away and make the images and light better and easier for me to see.

Yaaay!!! It's my birthday today!!! I am 14 and I love my life so far. When I got to school a lot of people said happy birthday. Science was involved in my life because my digestive system was in use when the cupcakes, cookies, and cow tale I ate passed throgh my system. Also, my brain sends different body funtions as I say "thanks" to everyone that says "HAAAPPYYY BIRTHDAYYY!!!!!" This morning I practiced with the jazz band and played drums. When we played, there was a lot of sound energy because of all the different instruments.

It's not my birthday anymore but the fun lives on :D. Today I am planning on watching a movie for my birthday. For the movie to play, all the electrical things need to be taken care of. First, the electricity to run the projector room and everything in it. Also, the different mechanical things needed for the projector to run. Also, the lights in the theater itself. Another electrical requirement is the sound which is very important in a movie. There are probably others that I forgot but the science in this is that without the discovery of electricity by Benjamin Franklin and the innovation in lightbulbs by Thomas Edison.

Last night I had a gathering at my house for my sister and I's birthday. Her birthday is tomorrow. I had a lot of fun. Today I went to church. I go to Beacon United Methodist Church. I used mechanical energy as I walked around and used my vocals to sing hyms. Also, I used mechanical energy and that later transposed to sound energy as I played drums and guitar. The SuperBowl is today and there are many parts of science in action. There is a lot of force when football players make contact and collide. Also, there is potential and kinetic energy in action when the football is thrown, about to be thrown, kicked, or about to be kicked. Also, there is a ton of sound energy at home and in the stadium throughout the game!!!

Yaaay!!! Today is my first wrestling meet. I am JV (Junior Varsity) for the 122 weight class. There will be a lot of science in action during the match. When I step onto the mat, my heart will race and pump more blood throughout my body. I will take time to mentally set myself and ready myself for the match. During the match I will use mechanical energy to wrestle with my opponent. When I am being controlled, I will use my technique and strength to escape. While I am wrestling, I will use my brain to think of different moves and a strategy to either win the match with points, or pin my competitor. I am excieted and can't wait!!!

Today I used many simple machines. One machine I used is a wheel and axle. The wheel and axle simple machine was in play when I was in my car on my way to school. Also, I walked up and inclined plane when entering the lunchrooms. These simple machines help make daily life easier. Walking up an inclined plane is easier than walking up steps. Opening a door without a handle is much harder than with a handle. Using a screw to hold together wood would be better than using a nail because the chance of splitting wood is less. There are many different simple machines and they make daily life easier.

In science, we are studying electricity. Today, Cody, Harjap and I worked on the second lab experiment. We found that for a bulb to light up there needs to be a positive and negative charge. Also, the wires connecting the battery to the bulb has to touch both the side and the bottom of the bulb for it to light up. A series circuit is a circuit that has multiple light bulbs and if one goes out, all of them go out. A parallel circuit is a circuit that a bulb can still be lit even if one goes out.

Today I used a simple machine. I used a pulley when I pulled the rope down to open a curtain. Also, I thought of different types of variables in a guitar. When I am looking for the right note/chord/sound in my room for a song there are the following variables:
Controlled- guitar, my fingers, environment, note/chord/song, strings.
After today's lesson I now understand how many variables play in a role in my instrument and how many variables there are in different things in life and how we can prove hypothesis' with them.

Also, there are simple machines like the wedge that allows the door to open, a wheel and axle with the water faucet, and many other things. When students talk, there is sound energy. Also, there is almost always some type of electrical energy. There are different switches in the room to, that enable different things. Some examples are the keys on the keyboard which make the right letters appear on the screen. Also, a lightswitch. Whenever and wherever, there is science in action.

Today we worked on making pictographs of the color spectrum. Yesterday when we learned about the color spectrum, I remembered the colors. This is because of Roy G Biv. Now I can point out different colors. Jamal is wearing his red sweater. IIya is wearing his blue sweater. Tyson is wearing flannel that has yellow in it. Tyson also has violet and indigo on his flannel. A warning sticker on the fume hood is orange. There are many colors in the world and they all involve science. This is because we see colors due to reflection of light onto the image. This image is seen by our eyes upside down and is sent to our brain which then flips it rightside up.

Today I am really tired. I woke up very late and had to rush to the bus. Because I was rushed, I am not thinking properly and this affects my day. I am using science because my brain is sending messages to other parts of my body to allow them to move. From there I use mechanical energy to actually move. As I am typing I am using mechanical energy. Right now, my brain is telling my body I am tired and need to go back to sleep. Also, this time of year I have severe allergies. "Allergies are abnormal immune system reactions to things that are typically harmless to most people. When you're allergic to something, your immune system mistakenly believes that this substance is harmful to your body." (http://kidshealth.org/teen/diseases_conditions/allergies_immune/allergies.html).
Some things that my body thinks are harmful are latex, birch, oak, alder, grass, dog dander, dust, pollen, and mold. Luckily I don't have any food allergies.

(At my uncles house he has a lot of play equipment for his daughters). She was swinging back an forth very fast and another little girl was playing with a workout ball. Suddenly, she ran in front of Hannah and the momentum of Hannah's swining made contact with the workout ball. Just then, energy was transferred from Hannah's knees to the ball, then to the little girl. She flew back with so much force she was knocked off her feet. She then fell. I was worried until she started laughing. Then, she did it again and other people tried. This was a fun day for me and I even tried it myself.

I got a new bed this weekend and slept comfortably. My bead is made out of a special foam. The bed helps me sleep because the foam sunks in to my weighted areas and supports the areas that aren't as heavy. This helps because when I sleep, I want each muscle in my body to relax. When you use your muscles, they stretch and tear. This is working them out. When they heal, they heal and piece back together with more mass/muscle. This is why your muscles shape and form when working out or excersising. Recovery is definately important after a long day because you need more energy the next day. That is why I love my new bed.

I learned a significant amount of information on space and spacecrafts today from the speaker that came (John Eckle). My muscles are sore because this weekend I went swimming. Swimming uses all the muscles in your body and is a good way to stay in shape. As I explained last blog, muscles tear and build back stronger and bigger. When swimming, you use a lot of mechanical and chemical energy because it requires so much. After I swam, I was fine but later I was sore. The soreness is the muscles that are building back up that were torn. Also, I stood on a platform that was an inclined plane.

Today I played baseball. I am on the Mill Creek baseball team and have practice. Baseball, like other sports, uses a lot of science and science is involved in it. When I pitch/throw, I retract my arm and throw it. The science behind this is simple. My shoulder and arm acts like a wheel and axle. My shoulder (the wheel) rotates and moves with the direction my brain tells it to. My arm (the axle) responds and I try my best to make a windmill type action when throwing. This builds up energy as I move my arm and this energy is released when I let go of the ball. Also, there is some science in batting. When I am at bat, I try to calm myself down because many people get nervous and their heart rate increases. I have learned to train myself to concentrate and calm down. When batting, I focus on watching the pitchers release point. This helps me trace the ball and its motion. Also, I look at the spin and speed of the ball. This helps with where and when I should swing. Unlike throwing, I mostly use all of my body when swinging. My weight is on my back foot so I build up more power, I have my hips ready to turn. When I do swing, I trace the ball, put more weight on my back foot, lift my leg for more power, swing my arms and the bat level to the ball, trace the ball with my eyes all the way to my bat, turn my hips, and finally follow through by making a full swing. This maximizes the power, and energy transferred from the bat to the ball.
