How do I see science in every day life?!?
One day this week i saw science in the "real world" because I saw a dead
Bumble Bee. and everyday I saw it it would have decayed a little more then the day before
I thought that this was really interesting becasue either little criters were eating at it or
it was just mother nature decayed the insect. And That is how i saw science in the real world this week.
Till next time, over and out :)

This week i saw science in the real world from this skate park project. One thing i noticed is that friction
causes things to slow down , then eventually stop. Another thing that i noticed is that it had alot to
do with force and motion. I also learned things about Kinetic and Potential Energies.
This Project was a little confusing at first but then i read the directions a little more carfully and
understood somewhat of what was being ask.

Science in the real world !-
Karina and I were in class and we had this tube thing, we talked back in forth through it,( were such DORKS !)
and i bet you are wondering how this is science, aren't you ?? Well i am about to tell you
this has to do with science because the sound waves in our voices travel through the tube to our ears
so we are able to hear eachotherl . I didnt notice that it dealt with science till after the fact though :)

Ohk so this week i went to the mall and i was shoping for stuff... Anyways i went to the food court to get a
bit-to-eat haha :). I ordered Some Fries From Jonny Rockets and a Shake ( vanilla) YUMM!! oh don't worry i am
about to tell you what this has to do with science so when you eat food it goes down the esophagus, into the stomach.
In The stomach is where the food is broken down by the acids in you. There you have it Human Body Science :))

Science in the real world…

This week I am going to talk about Skylar and his Skateboarding Skills( or whatever you call them , because we all know he SUCKS lol) so anyways this is how a skateboard works you have wheel and axle( trucks ) which make the wheels on the Board move J in order for him to stop he has to put his foot on the ground to create friction …Or he could just fall like he is use to J
hahaha

SITRL (science in The Real world)
I don’t have much this week but I’m just going to tell you where I saw science…. So I was going for a walk outside because I was bored and so I decided to look up at the sky (: then I thought hmmm how do the clouds get up there. Then I remembered The WATER CYCLE. Which goes a little something like this. The sun evaporates water from lakes and oceans. As the air rises, it cools. The water vapor condenses into tiny droplets of water The droplets crowd together and form a cloud Wind blows the cloud towards the land. The tiny droplets join together and fall as precipitation to the ground . The water soaks into the ground and collects in rivers and lakes .The cycle that never ends has started again!

All about static electricity ,, jenica had on this furry sweater and we were both wondering why
she kept shocking me ,, then with jacobs help we realized that it was static electricity , which
is what we are learning about now in this class, we also whatched this little video about Electricity.

2 weekly blogs are turned in on paper

I was talking in 3rd block about how science is in my house
then it hit me like ,, like ( well i dont know but something did hit me lol)
and I thought about how lights work in my house ( well ms peihl and jacob
gave me the idea ahaha) but anywho my hallways light went out
and i waswondering why the other lights didnt go out , when i realized that
the circuts are paralle so all the lights wouldnt go out but if it was a series
circut the all the lights would have gone out.

Science in the Real world !!
This week i saw science in 3rd block science class.Ms. Piehl
my science teacher was demostrating electricity
she electricuted a pickle and it turnedbright yellow and
fried the pickle till all the juice was gone
then sheput the juice back into the water
( pickle juice )and electricutedit again and the same thing
happened she said she could do this over and over
again.

All about bats(March 19,2k10)
Bats use Echo’s to find things in the night, pretty cool huh? Well I think so. Anyways your probably wondering how this works, well my friend your about to find out. You see , when Echo’s bounce off of an object and goes to the body of the Echo locator ( bat) then the bat can pick up the sound and that bat now knows where the sound is coming from. As for the echo If the object the echo is bouncing of it can make different sound for example if Object A has a different type of material then Object B then the echo that is coming of off it would sound different.

Science in the real world, all about Fireworks . ( March 26, 2k10 )
Have you ever wondered how fireworks work and how they get their color? Well your about to find out. There are different types of Chloride that can be added to fire so that they can get become a different color. There is also Methanol. As we all know when fire burns it is normal Reddish orange. Now let’s say that we added methanol to It, The fire would now become blue with little orange sparks. And for the chlorides then….
Methanol:
Only Methanol : Blue fire with some orange sparks
Strontium chloride:
It started off with blue then There are some red parks in the fire
Copper Chloride:
The Fire is blue and green, blue from the methanol and green from the copper.

After a few seconds the fire turned from green to a bright blue
Potassium Chloride:
After we mixed together the potassium Chloride and added the
Cotton Ball to the mixture, the Cotton Ball turned light bluish color.
When mrs. Peihl set it on fire it was kind of pinkish with a little bluefrom the methanol
Sodium Chloride :
The fire is all orange which tells me that the methanol burned out
Lithium Chloride:
Lithium is blue and red but after a few minutes it turned all REDISH pink

Science in The real world (April 2, 2k10)

All about matter.
There are four states of matter; Solids, liquids, Gas, And Plasma Are the types of Matter. Pretty much everything in the universe is matter. Which means yes , you are matter too xD . Now I am going to explain what Each State of Matter is, - solids : very strong , holding its shape, it resists change.
- Liquid: whose shape but not volume can be changed
- Gas-substance that is neither a solid nor a liquid
- plasma : good conductors of heat plasma is made up of ions and electrons

Science in the real world ( April 9, 2k10)
Mixtures and solutions – what Is a Solution , and what are the two parts of a solution? A solution is a well mixed mixture in which particles are small and dissolved. The things that would make up a solution are called a solute and a solvent. A solute is the substance that dissolves in another substance and the solvent is the substance in which the solute dissolves in . Lemonade would be an example of an solution. Now I bet you thinking do all solutions have to be a liquid. The answer to that is No
J , solutions can also be solids and gasses

SCIENCE IN THE REAL WOLD (April 16, 2k10)
Scanning the human body.
Have you ever wondered how people are able to see into the human body? Well I am about to answer that for you, Oh don’t worry you can thank me later hahaha ;) anyways… There are many way that the human body can be viewed in the inside. I am going to tell to tell you about a few and how they work.

TEM ( Transmission electron microscopy ) The specimen is sliced extremely thin. An electron Beam is focused by Electromagnets is passed through the specimen and onto a photographic screen, This views inside the skin only not viewing the bone.
SEM (Scanning electron microscopy) This is used to view bacterium, the surface of the specimen is coated with a gold very thin film. And the electron beam is scanned secondary electrons bounces off and the bacteria Is viewed.
MRI ( Magnetic resonance imaging) A person would lie in a machine chamber and must remain very still. This allows the Nuclei Of Hydrogen in body to line up. A pulse of radio waves is released, throwing the atoms out of alignment, which produces radio signals which is viewed on a computer screen.
CT scan of sarcoma ( Computerized tomography ) These type of scans are helpful when dealing with bleeding, assessing injuries, diagnosing , the cause of abnormal swelling.

SCIENCE IN THE REAL WORLD ( April 23, 2k10)
The human body systems-
The human body , like that of every living thing or creature has one prime biologic function- that is to reproduce its self and ensure the survival of its off spring. However this is only possible when all the body systems work together efficiently. Now I am going to tell you about most of the systems in the body and how they work.
Skeletal System- is the frame work on which the rest of the body is built upon.
Cardiovascular System- most of the basis functions is to pump blood to the heart and around the body.
Immune System - Defenses help provided vital protection against infectious disease.
Digestive System-The 30ft.of tubing between the mouth and the anus has a complex range of functions. It is needed to store food, and digest it.
Urinary system – The formation of urine by the kidneys eliminates wastes and helps maintain the body’s water and chemical balance.
Science in the Real world (April 30, 2k10)

The human Brain !
Ever wonder what’s in the brain ? or how it works. Well that’s why I’m here (: to tell you all about that.
There are eight parts of the brain that I am going to talk to you about and six that I am going to go into semi further detail into.
Frontal lobe- which is the part of the brain responsible for speech and production.
Temple lobe- The part of the brain in which specific tones and a loudness takes place .
Cerebellum – Neutrons of the Cerebellum link with other regions of the brain and the spinal cord. It control balance and posture but also plays a role in speech
Occipital lobe- This area detects and interprets visual images.
Parietal lobe- A variety of bodily fluids sensation such as touch, pressure, pain, and temperature are both perceived and interpreted here.
Cerebral Cortex- The entire cerebrum is covered by a thin layer of gray matter about 2-6mm think. Underneath is the brains white matter followed by islands of gray matter

Science in the real world (May 7,2k10 )
Potential and kinetic Energy
There are many types of energy in the world , but today I am just going to talk about two of them.
Potential energy is the energy an object has in motion

Kinetic energy is stored energy here is an example of this… When Zazoo was holding the ball high, it had potential energy. While the ball was dropping, it had kinetic energy and air resistance is acting on it, which reduces the kinetic energy of the ball. When the ball hits the ground, it exerts force on the ground and the ground exerts an opposite force on the ball, which also causes the ball to lose kinetic energy . After the ball hits the ground and stops moving around, it has potential energy

Science in the real world(May 14, 2k10 )
CURRENT ELECTRICITY
Current electricity is a consistent flow of electric charge. And electric current is the amount of charge that travels past a certain point each second , then there are SI which are the unit of measurement for currant is the ampere or “amp”. There are some kinds of material out there that are really good at carrying electricity. Their materials are called conductors. For example Metal , Copper and Aluminum are good conductors. There are also things That are not good at carrying currents and there material would be called insulators, these things would be Rubber, Wood, Glass, and air.

Science in the Real world (May 21, 2k10)
STATCIC ELCTRICITY
When electric charge builds up on an object it is called static electricity. A way That static electricity is created is through rubbing . For example if you were to rub fur or wool static would build up. Electrons from the atoms on the fur are transferred to your hand then your hand becomes positively charged , this is due to the loss of electrons. So when you touch someone they would be in for a “shocking” surprise

Science in the real world ( May , 28,2k10 )
ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM
The two of these are very similar and closely related. Why you ask. Well because they are both negative and positively charged in matter , When the charges from one piece of matter interact with the ones from another part of matter, they construct electric and magnetic forces. Another thing that can construct magnetism is electricity , but the same is for magnetism , it can also create electricity.

Science in the Real world ( June 4,2k10)
MOLECULES!!
Today I want to take you guys back to the beginning of the school year when we learned about molecules.
When a molecule is water heat up they turn into gasses, for example steam from a pot of water would be an example of that. So when molecules in Water cool Down they become ice! And frozen. Now lets say you heat up a molecule really hot! Well guess what! It becomes this thing called plasma! , when they hit this state the move VERY,VERY fast. When they are in the state of a solid they are barely moving. When they are liquids the are fairly moving, and when they are gasses they are moving fast, but not as fast as if they were in the plasma state.

Science in the Real world ( June 11, 2k10)
Simple machines- Again with the simple machines! Well come on there in everyday life, and you see them everywhere! If you don’t believe me then I have something in store for you LOL ! im going to name a few simple machine and where you see them in life
COOKIE JAR- screw
DOORNOB-Wheel and Axel
SKATE RAMP- Inclined plane
BROOM- Lever
DOOR- Screw/ Lever
OVEN- Lever
FAN- Inclined plane
BASEBALL BAT- Lever
BASKETBALL-lever
And oh trust me there are many more MANY! Where that came from but those are just a few where your would see them, But There are everywhere! I’m sure that every thing you own has something to do with a simple machine (::
